18 Jan Open Call For Short Story Writers in Shape – 5th Movable Writers’ Residency in Montenegro, Čelobrdo 2018
Theme: Our Traditional Hospitality / Hostility
This is a public call for short stories writers in shape to participate in the 5th Movable writers’ residency in Montenegro, that will take part from 15th to 30th October, 2018 in Čelobrdo village, just above St. Stefan.
It is advisable for the participants to be in good physical shape because of expected and planned everyday climbing mountain top tours together with walks along ancient Austro-Hungarian military road, goat trails and shepherd’s paths all in quest for expected hospitality.
In exhausting walking history tours with the adjoining audience you will be encouraged to exchange impressions and experiences in relation to foreigners and other things “foreign”, and also towards desired and undesired guests.
Far from baring only positive outcome, hospitality involves risk and uncertainty. Though, when it does occur, it is unmistakably and undoubtedly recognizable. Same holds true for hostility. Micro location, Čelobrdo village is a chosen contact point for both hospitality an hostility.
Residency participants have their transport and lodging costs covered together with per diem. Travel insurance is not included.
The participants are expected to produce short stories, to be in shape and not to be too fussy. In exchange, we offer them an escape from traditional October literary fairs and program that no one will benefit from, that will not advance anybodies’ career and that will not result in anything important.
5th Movable writers’ residency in Montenegro, is a part of international project Movable residencies that is realized for the 6th consecutive year by ZMUC (Belgrade, SRB) in collaboration with Za Druga (Petrovac, MNE) and Zeta Center (Tirana, ALB).
A variety of themes from Taboos in Transition, Language and Community, Museum of Corruption and Lifetime Freedom were tackled by 36 authors that have participated so far in writers’ residencies.
Following an inspiring Annual Leave for artists and cultural workers, in Čelobrdo last year and this year’s Disco Yugoslavia in Babe village near Belgrade in Serbia, we continue to look at neglected and forsaken places with our Movable residencies in the region.
This call is open to authors from the region (Yugoslavia, Bulgaria and Albania).
Please send a motivational letter not later than September 30th, 2018 at zmuc@zmuc.org
The residency is supported by TRADUKI, European network for literature and books and Budva Municipality.
